To ask the Secretary of State for Defence

(1) whether his Department has commissioned testing into the feasibility of deploying Brimstone missiles from unmanned aerial vehicles; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what assistance his Department has provided to MBDA Systems in the development of a prototype Brimstone missile suitable for use on a US unmanned aerial vehicle platform.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD), with MBDA support, is currently planning to conduct trials into the feasibility of integrating Brimstone onto remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) in the autumn of 2013. The MOD is not developing a prototype Brimstone missile for use on a US RPAS. I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave on 15 May 2013, Hansard, column 222W, to Angus Robertson.
