To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills how many people in (a) Jarrow constituency, (b) South Tyneside, (c) the North East and (d) the UK have received a payday loan in each of the last five years.
The Government do not collect this data. Estimates of the number of households in Great Britain using payday loans varies from over 300,000 according to YouGov (2011) to around 1.5 million (2012) according to the Aviva Family Finances Survey. The following table provides data for each of the last five years.
