To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how much her Department spent on sport in (a) Yorkshire and the Humber and (b) City of York local authority area in each year since 2004-05.

DCMS, via Sport England, has invested over the period April 1 2004 to 31 March 2013, in (a) the Yorkshire and Humber region: £185,064,813 and in (b) the York local authority: £2,995,060. The funding is invested on the basis of applications for funding and the figures do not reflect the large amount of funding channelled through our key partners, such as National Governing Bodies of Sport, to increase participation.
