International Development written question – answered at on 8 July 2013.
To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what assistance the Government provides to ethnic Rohingya from Burma who have fled to Bangladesh.
DFID provides core contributions to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which manages the official camps for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, as well as to other organisations that provide support including the European Commission. This support includes providing shelter, access to water and sanitation, vocational training and food supplies to malnourished refugees. We have raised with the Government of Bangladesh the plight of the Rohingyas and their status.
