To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions what his policy is on unpaid work experience undertaken by jobseekers.

Our policy is to offer every young person the opportunity to participate in work experience if they want to, so that young people can gain work related skills and disciplines, and improve their marketability to future employers. Participation is entirely voluntary. The scheme is working well I would encourage young people to take part.
