Communities and Local Government written question – answered at on 20 June 2013.
To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many empty properties have been brought back into use, by local authority, since May 2010.
Annual statistics on total numbers of vacant dwellings and those vacant longer than six months in each local authority district in England are published in the Department's live table 615, which is available at the following link:

Comparison of the figures over successive years shows the net change in numbers vacant. The net figures result from the balance of properties being brought back into use and those falling vacant over the year.
The number of long-term empty homes has already fallen by 20,000 between 2011 and 2012 and by over 40,800 since 2010. Ministers will keep the House updated with progress.
