To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how many (a) 0800, (b) 0808, (c) 0844, (d) 0845 and (e) 0870 telephone numbers for the public are in use by (i) her Department and (ii) the agencies for which she is responsible.

The Department does not have any 0800, 0844, 0845, and 0870 telephone numbers for the public. Information relating to our agencies is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
