To ask Her Majesty's Government what advice they have received on the possibility of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, but remaining a member of the European Economic Area as an independent signatory to the 1994 Agreement on the European Economic Area.

The Government have neither sought nor received advice on this matter. The UK's national interest is best served as a member of a reformed EU that is competitive, flexible, and democratically accountable.
