To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer

(1) what assessment he has made of the potential effect on tourism of abolishing air passenger duty;

(2) what assessment he has made of the potential effect on the aviation industry of abolishing air passenger duty.

The Chancellor keeps all taxes under review and considers them in the round. Budget 2012 set out air passenger duty rates from 1 April 2013, which will rise in line with inflation.
