To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills pursuant to the answer of 18 December 2012, Official Report, column 729W, on employee ownership, what estimate he has made of the total costs to businesses of familiarising themselves with the amended Employment Rights Act 1996 regardless of whether they use the employee shareholder status or not.

The calculation of the total cost to business of familiarisation with the amended Employment Rights Act 1996, in relation to the employee shareholder employment status, has not yet been carried out.

It is our intention to publish an updated impact assessment to the employment status before coming into law, which includes this calculation.
