To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether there is a requirement in MOT vehicle testing for there to be a visual inspection of a vehicle to ensure that a diesel particulate filter fitted at manufacture is still present.

There are no physical checks to establish whether or not a diesel particulate filter is fitted to a vehicle for MOT purposes. If the required emission values are met during a metered smoke check the vehicle will pass the emission test.
