To ask the Secretary of State for Health what progress he has made on the development of a new NHS dentistry contract; and whether he has received feedback from clinical groups on the pilot scheme which is in progress.

The Government made a commitment to introducing a new dental contract and said there would be thorough preparation including piloting. Piloting intended to test key elements needed to design that contract began in 2011 and a second wave of pilots was announced in October 2012, to start from April 2013. The British Dental Association and a pilot practitioner have been closely involved on the National Steering Group for Dental Contract Reform and a wide range of other clinicians are engaged with the process.
