To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if she will estimate her Department’s total staffing requirement in full-time equivalent posts for fulfilling its minimum statutory obligations.

The core statutory obligations of the Home Office are set out in the Appropriation Act for each year, which authorises the use of resources for each Department.

The number of current full-time equivalent staff in the Home Department (including all Executive agencies) and its non-departmental public bodies on 31 December 2012 was 31,411.
