To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reports he has received on the detention and reported torture of Ahmed Humaidan in Bahrain; and if he will make a statement.

We are aware of the case of Mr Ahmed Humaidan, who has been in detention since the end of December. The first hearing of his trial, along with 32 other defendants, was heard earlier this month. We continue to urge the Bahraini authorities to ensure that due process is carefully and transparently followed in all cases. We expect civil liberties to be protected and for Bahrain to adhere to its international human rights obligations.
