To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans they have to restructure the railways of Northern Ireland to comply with Article 59 of Directive 2012/34/EU on the recast of the first Railway Package.

Transport is a devolved matter so the responsibility for ensuring Northern Ireland's compliance with European directives lies with the Northern Ireland Assembly. I understand that Northern Ireland will be considering the structure of its railway industry as part of its process for the transposition of directive 2012/34/EU.
