To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they have undertaken any assessment of the likely cost of extending HS2 to Scotland.

No assessment has yet been made of the costs of a high-speed line going further north to Scotland. The Department for Transport has started work to understand how best to boost capacity and cut journey times so that Scotland can gain the most benefit from a high-speed Britain.
