To ask Her Majesty's Government what discussions they have had with the Government of Iran regarding the number and circumstances of executions taking place in Iran.

Following the closure of our embassy in Tehran in 2011, we have had very limited contact with Iranian officials. However, the UK frequently condemns publicly, and in international fora, Iran's excessive use of the death penalty and the way in which it is applied. We supported an EU demarche last autumn raising our concerns about Iran's death penalty use.
