Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs written question – answered at on 14 January 2013.
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he plans to take in the event that the Israeli Government announces further settlements in the west bank.
The UK position on Israeli settlements is clear: they are illegal under international law, an obstacle to peace and make a two-state solution, with Jerusalem as a shared capital, harder to achieve. We consistently call on the Israeli authorities to cease all settlement building and to remove illegal outposts, as required under international law and in fulfilment of Israel's obligations under the Quartet Roadmap.
Any decisions about what steps or actions we might take in the event of any future Israeli Government settlement announcements will be made at that time.
