To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the receipts forecast in the Autumn Statement as a result of an agreement with Swiss banks in respect of deposits and assets held with them by United Kingdom taxpayers is dependent on Swiss referenda, and, if so, when these are due to be held; what assumptions were made about the outcome of voting; and what was the basis for these assumptions.

The UK-Switzerland tax co-operation agreement was signed in October 2011. The necessary enabling legislation has been passed by the legislatures in both the UK and Switzerland.

In October 2012, the Swiss Government announced that insufficient signatures had been collected to require a referendum on the agreement.

While the UK Government are aware that an appeal has been lodged, they still expect the agreement to come into force on 1 January 2013 as planned.
