To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills how many (a) computers, (b) mobile telephones, (c) BlackBerrys and (d) other pieces of IT equipment were lost or stolen from his Department in (i) 2010-11 and (ii) 2011-12; and if he will make a statement.
During the financial year period 2010-11 and 2011-12, the number of items considered lost or stolen is listed as follows. It is not possible to differentiate between lost or stolen items. All IT items issued by the Department are encrypted and once reported as stolen or lost are disabled to ensure no data is compromised.
