To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment he has made of the underspend of the East Midlands allocation of the Cancer Drugs Fund.
In 2012-13, NHS East Midlands received an initial allocation of £11.504 million(1) for the Cancer Drugs Fund. Information supplied to the Department by the strategic health authority indicates that to the end of September 2012, £3.291 million of this had been spent.
(1) £200 million is available for the Cancer Drugs Fund in 2012-13. This comprises £140 million which has been allocated to the national health service and a further £60 million that is available for strategic health authorities to draw down as needed.
