To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many staff were employed by the (a) Independent Safeguarding Authority and (b) Criminal Records Bureau in each of the last five years; and how many staff she expects to be employed by the Disclosure and Barring Service in each of the next five years.

Table 1 provides information on the number of staff employed by (a) the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) and (b) the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) in each of the last five years.

(3) 2008-09 was the first full year of operation for the Independent Safeguarding Authority—before this it was known as the Independent Barring Board.
