To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when she expects to publish the results of the consultation on reforming section 5 of the Public Order Act 1936.

The Government are carefully considering the responses to the consultation ‘Police Powers to Promote and Maintain Public Order’, part of which sought views on the significance of the word “insulting” in section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986. The Government will publish its response to the consultation in due course.
