The aim of the Diabetes Action Plan is to set out the actions that the national health service can take to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diabetes. The Department is working in consultation with NHS colleagues and leading stakeholders from the voluntary sector, including Diabetes UK, to produce an action plan that will be published later this year. In acknowledgement that the pharmaceutical industry has a major role to play in improving diabetes care, it will be consulted on the action plan via engagement with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry.
