Government consideration of proposals by the Maritime Heritage Foundation for work at the wreck site of the Victory 1744 are informed by an advisory group which has representation from the Ministry of Defence, English Heritage and the National Museum of the Royal Navy. This Department has observer status on this group. No work on the site can be undertaken without the approval of the Secretary of State for Defence, my right hon. Friend Mr Hammond.
