To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how many (a) men and (b) women were (i) convicted and (ii) served a custodial sentence for drink driving offences in each police authority in each year since 1997.
The number of persons found guilty at all courts and given a custodial sentence for driving after consuming alcohol or taking drugs, by police force area, in England and Wales, for the period of 1997 to 2011 (latest available) can be viewed in Tables 1 and 2, which have been placed in the Library.
Annual court proceedings data for 2012 are planned for publication in May 2013.
