To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate she has made of the average length of time taken to scan each (a) British and (b) non-British passport at passport control at UK airports.

Opening and scanning passports forms one part of the clearance process at UK airports. There are a number of different types of British, EU and non- EU passports. No recent estimate of the average length of time to scan each type has been made.
