We are committed to encouraging the best graduates into teaching. We set out the action we will be taking to attract more of the highest achieving graduates into teaching in ‘Training our next generation of outstanding teachers: Implementation plan’, published in November 2011. This includes offering bursaries of up to £20,000 to top graduates who train to teach, Institute of Physics teacher training scholarships, introducing a new employment-based route for high quality career-changers and further expansion of the Teach First programme.
