Home Department written question – answered at on 5 September 2012.
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department
(1) when her Department plans to update its document, “Life in the UK: a Journey to Citizenship”;
(2) what estimate her Department has made of the number of inaccuracies in its document, “Life in the UK: a Journey to Citizenship”; and what assessment her Department has made of the effect of such inaccuracies on applicants.
A new edition of the handbook ‘Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship’ is currently being finalised with the aim of publishing it later this year. We are aware that the existing handbook has some out-of-date information, which will be remedied by the publication of a new edition. In the meantime, questions for the life in the UK test which are no longer valid are in any case removed from the question bank so candidates should not suffer any adverse effects.
