To ask Her Majesty's Government how many and which files were sent to the National Archives by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, its predecessor departments, and each of its agencies in each of the past 10 years for which information is available.

The number of files transferred to the National Archives (TNA) by core Defra and its executive agencies over the past 10 years is summarised in the table below. These data are extracted from TNA's Keeper Annual Reports from business year (April to March) 2001-02 to 2011-12. Files were transferred from core Defra, the Rural Payments Agency (RPA, and its predecessor Intervention Board Executive Agency, IBEA) and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas). No files were transferred from the Food and Environment Research Agency (Fera), Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) or Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratory Agency (AHVLA).
