To ask Her Majesty's Government how wide the consultation will be on the content of regulations to be brought forward on water fluoridation under the Health and Social Care Act 2012; and when they expect the consultation to take place.

The consultation will be on the changes we propose to make through regulations on the legal and technical aspects of the process for considering proposals for the fluoridation of drinking water as well as for the variation and termination of existing fluoridation schemes.

This consultation will be an opportunity for the department to obtain the views of local authorities, National Health Service commissioners, public health professionals, service providers, equality representatives and all other interested parties on the future arrangements for considering proposals for fluoridation schemes. The consultation, which is expected to start over the summer, will run for a period of 12 weeks.
