To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many of the (a) road and (b) rail infrastructure projects announced in the 2010 autumn statement were placed on hold between May 2010 and autumn 2011.

The information requested is as follows:

(a) The document ‘Investment in Highways Transport Schemes’, published alongside the 2010 autumn statement, set out the major roads schemes that will continue to be worked on and those that have been cancelled.

(b) No rail projects were put on hold during the period in question, other than the Intercity Express Programme. The latter programme was only put on hold for the purposes of the Foster review commissioned by the previous Government in February 2010. The then Secretary of State, my right hon. Friend Mr Hammond, reported the outcome of this review in his statement to the House in March 2011, Official Report, columns 185-87.
