The Department has commissioned a consortium of academics and research organisations led by Ian Cole, professor of housing studies at Sheffield Hallam University to undertake an independent review of the impact of changes to the local housing allowance system of housing benefit.

The research will include a spatial analysis of the effects of the changes that will examine movement from one local authority to another.

The Department published a report of early findings on 14 June and a copy of the report has been deposited in the House Library.
