To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will oppose plans to develop two wind farms near Belford, Northumberland, in view of the views of local residents and given that the site is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Given the Secretary of State's planning responsibilities it would be inappropriate for me to comment on specific proposals. Planning law requires planning applications to be determined in accordance with the development plan for the area, unless material considerations indicate otherwise. The policies in the National Planning Policy Framework, including for protecting the natural environment, are material considerations which local planning authorities should take into account.
