To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what the average cost per full-time equivalent member of staff spent by UK Border Agency on staff allocated to detection and intelligence work was in (a) 2009-10 and (b) each subsequent year for which figures are available.

Average costs per full-time equivalent members of staff are not broken down on the central personnel system by allocated function in the way described. To determine which staff were involved in detection and intelligence work over time would not be possible except at a disproportionate cost.
