To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information her Department holds on the refusal of Tier 4 visas owing to the applicant not meeting the English language standards, in the latest period for which figures are available.

Information on tier 4 visa refusals owing to the applicant not meeting the English language standards is only held locally at the UK Border Agency's visa sections. To provide an accurate answer to the question tabled would require the examination of individual records, which would incur a disproportionate cost.
