To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what representations he plans to make to the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the protection of industries currently subject to both the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and the Carbon Reduction Commitment in the event of the Carbon Reduction Commitment being replaced by an alternative scheme.

The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Mr Davey, regularly discusses matters of common interest with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, my right hon. Friend Mr Osborne. The Department is currently considering responses to our consultation on simplification of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme which closed on 18 June. The Government will make a further announcement in due course.
