To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs if she will review the effectiveness of the provisions of the Breeding and Sale of Dogs (Welfare) Act 1999.

The Government has no proposals to review the Breeding and Sale of Dogs (Welfare) Act 1999. The independent Advisory Council on the Welfare Issues of Dog Breeding under the chairmanship of Professor Sheila Crispin, works with key dog interest groups such as The Kennel Club and Dogs Trust to try and tackle problems associated with the health and welfare of dog breeding. I will of course consider any recommendations that the Council make.
