To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent steps the Government has taken to support parliamentary democracy in Latin America.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is currently supporting projects in a number of countries in the region, including Colombia, Peru and Guatemala. The British Government also encourages parliamentary exchanges between the UK and Latin American parliamentarians. The UK has a long history of supporting democracy and good governance in Latin America, both bilaterally and through the work of the European Union and Organisation of American States (OAS) in the region.
