To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what assessment his Department has made of the potential effects of installation failures on the overall cost of the smart meter roll-out.

DECC published two updated smart meter impact assessments (IAs) in April 2012. The IAs estimate that, on average, the cost of a dual fuel installation will be £69 per premise. This estimate accounts for those instances where a number of visits will be required before a successful installation is achieved.
