To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills on what date he plans to bring forward legislation to implement Directive 2011/7/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 February 2011, on combating late payment in commercial transactions; and if he will make a statement.

It is a long standing commitment of this Government not to gold-plate EU legislation by implementing early and we have confirmed many times our intention to transpose Directive 2011/7/EU on combating late payment by 16 March 2013, thereby providing business, and especially smaller businesses, with certainty.

Over the summer, we will consult on the detail of implementation, as part of the transposition process.
