To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much funding his Department has allocated to the prevention of liver disease in the next 12 months.

The Department has allocated £1.150 million in the financial year from April 2012 to March 2013 for the prevention of liver disease. NHS Liver Care has been given prime responsibility to utilise the above funds for liver disease. NHS Liver Care has already established a virtual working environment for national and local healthcare professionals involved in the prevention, planning and delivery of liver services.
