To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether she plans to implement the recommendations of the Winsor report that there should be greater harmonisation between the pay of police officers and police staff; and what assessment she has made of the potential effect of implementing such recommendations on the quality of police officers recruited in the future.

The Secretary of State for the Home Department, my right hon. Friend Mrs May, has referred specific recommendations about police officer and staff pay from the final report of Tom Winsor's independent Review to the Police Negotiating Board (PNB), Police Staff Council (PSC) and other relevant bodies. She will consider the outcome of their discussions carefully.
