To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how many people were (a) prosecuted, (b) convicted and (c) received custodial sentences for contempt of court in a county court in each of the last five years for which figures are available.
Information held centrally by the Ministry of Justice on the Court Proceedings Database does not include the circumstances behind each case beyond the description provided in the statute. It is therefore not possible to separately identify offences of contempt of court arising from a county court ruling or judgment from offences of contempt of court arising from a ruling or judgment in other courts.
