In response to Libyan requests, we have contributed £1.5 million to the UN Libyan Electoral Assistance Programme, which is providing practical and logistical assistance for the elections, including security, education and media planning. We are also funding the training of local electoral observers, projects to help women's groups advocate their views, electoral education projects focusing on women and youth and police advisers and training to assist effective election security co-ordination.
