The Government has set Departments a target of paying 80% of invoices from small and medium-sized entities within five working days of receipt of a valid invoice. The Department of Energy and Climate Change applies this target to all valid invoices, whether they are from public or private sector contractors and regardless of size. The Department has consistently exceeded this target without any change to our contractual terms and conditions. The statistics are published on the DECC website:

http://www.decc.gov.uk/en/content/cms/about/procurement/prompt_pay/prompt_pay.aspx

The Department of Energy and Climate Change has signed-up to the “Prompt Payment Code” and has developed procurement policies in line with the Prompt Payment Code's recommended best practice.
