To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what his policy is on the right of victims of crime to receive information about their cases within a specific timeframe.

Our consultation 'Getting it Right for Victims and Witnesses' closed on 22 April. One of its key proposals is that there should be a new, clearer, Victims' Code and we have sought views on a set of principles on which we think a new Code should be based. The provision of information to victims will be one of the matters to be considered in drafting a new Code.
