To ask Her Majesty's Government what is their assessment of the value brought to the justice system by the magistracy.

The Government place great value on the lay magistracy. As well as playing a vital role in ensuring that justice is done swiftly and effectively, magistrates provide an important link between the justice system and the communities it serves.
