To ask the Secretary of State for Health what recent steps his Department has taken to support (a) men, (b) women, (c) children and (d) older people with Crohn's disease.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is developing a clinical guideline for the treatment of Crohn's disease with publication expected in December 2012. We also .consulted last summer on a proposed library of NICE quality standards which would include a quality standard on Crohn's disease, and a final decision will be announced shortly.. Through the NHS Outcomes Framework we will be holding the national health service to account for improving the quality of life of people with long term conditions, including Crohn's disease.
