To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs when negotiations commenced between Dorset County Council and the Forestry Commission into the disposal of a lease of land at Cannon Hill, Ferndown, Dorset; when she expects those negotiations to be concluded; and whether any disposal of Cannon Hill plantation by the Forestry Commission is subject to Ministerial approval.

No negotiations have taken place between the Forestry Commission and Dorset county council on the sale or lease of Uddens (Cannon Hill) Plantation, although there have been discussions about the suitability of the land for a Gypsy or Traveller site. Any disposal of Public Forest Estate would ultimately need to be approved by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, my right hon. Friend Mrs Spelman. However, we have not yet reached that stage of the process.
